Na 5 jaar is de Amerikaanse muzikant Alex Brettin weer terug met zijn Mild High Club. Na het debuut-album ‘Timeline’ (2015) volgde een jaar later ‘Skiptracing’, waarvan de track ‘Homage’ pas vorig jaar een viral hit werd. In 2017 verscheen nog wel ‘Sketches Of Brunswick East’ waar op Mild High Club de samenwerking aanging met de Australische psych-rockband King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard.
‘Going Going Gone’ is nu dus het derde album van Mild High Club en bevat de bekende mix van ‘psychedelic AOR-influenced pop and heavenly jazz-rock’ met dit keer nieuwe ‘Brazilian and electronic music from the 1960s and 70s influences’. Er zijn gast-optredens van Stones Throw-labelmaatjes Knxwledge en Jerry Paper, de Braziliaanse zanger Winter en de band werkte samen met de bekende producer/componist Vicky Farewell Nguyen. Het nieuwe funky album is ‘the most explicitly political to date’, maar wel op zonnige en humoristische wijze verpakt met ‘slinky beats, laidback bass-lines, trippy chill tones and Copacabana flavours’!
