Via V2/Coöperatieve Music verschijnt op 15 oktober Come Home To Mama, het nieuwe album van Martha Wainwright. Come Home To Mama laat zich beluisteren als een emotionele muzikale achtbaan waarop het panische en gepassioneerde van haar debuut uit 2005 en de verknipte popelementen van I Know You’re Married, But I’ve Got Feelings Too uit 2008 samenkomen. Echtgenoot Brad Albetta produceerde Martha’s eerste twee albums, maar voor Come Home To Mama koos ze voor Yuka C Honda (Cibo Matto). Een bewuste keuze om een vrouwelijke touch aan de nummers mee te geven. Naast Yuka’s echtgenoot, en Wilco-gitarist, Nels Cline hoor je op het album toetsenist Thomas Bartlett, bassist Brad Albetta en drummer Jim White. Come Home To Mama is opgenomen in de thuisstudio van Sean Lennon in New York.
Martha Wainwright: ‘Making this record was a totally different experience. Yuka’s approach was very open. Sometimes I would just demo the song, singing in the closet which served as the vocal booth, then she would build the track around that. In other instances we would jam with a few musicians and try to get a live take. This record is a culmination of my life experiences so far. Everything changed for me a couple years ago and this record is a representation of that and a return to the reason I started writing songs. I can’t wait to hit the road with my family and new band in tow.’
