Op dinsdag 25 april geeft singer-songwriter David Gray een akoestisch soloconcert in Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam. De kaartverkoop voor dit concert start aanstaande zaterdag om 11.00 uur via Ticketmaster.
In 1993 brengt David Gray zijn debuutalbum ‘A Century Ends’ uit. Zijn grote doorbraak komt een aantal jaren later in 1999 met de release van zijn vierde album ‘White Ladder’ en de daarvan afkomstige hits ‘Babylon’, ‘Please Forgive Me’ en ‘This Year’s Love’. Hiermee behaalt hij drieëndertig keer platina in Ierland, waar het nog steeds de best verkochte plaat aller tijden is, en het bezorgt hem zijn eerste nummer één-hit in Groot-Brittannië. Inmiddels heeft de Britse zanger in zijn 25-jarige carrière 16 albums op zijn naam staan en is eind vorig jaar zijn best of album The Best of David Gray verschenen.
Tijdens dit concert speelt David Gray een intieme akoestische soloset waarbij zowel zijn bekende hits als een selectie nummers van alle albums en wat nieuw werk voorbij komt.
“So, having spent the best part of the last year in the studio and with a new record bubbling away nicely, it’s time to emerge squinting into the sunlight, guitar in hand, and hit the road again. One key difference about this particular tour is that I will be performing all the concerts solo, and the general idea is that the set will be divided into two halves. The first half will be an adventurous, in depth look at a broad sweep of songs from across all my albums, even possibly taking a peek at some new material, while the second half will focus primarily on the ‘hits’”, aldus David Gray.
