Van Morrison komt terug met een nieuw studioalbum. RCA records/Sony Music brengt ‘Duets: Re-working the Catalogue’ uit op 24 maart. Van Morrison put op dit album uit zijn gigantische repertoire. Nummers zijn opnieuw opgenomen en hij selecteerde persoonlijk duetpartners als Michael Bublé, Steve Winwood, wijlen Bobby Womack, Mark Knopfler en zijn dochter Shana Morrison. ‘Duets: Re-working the Catalogue’ is het 35e studioalbum van de Noord-Ierse zanger.
Van Morrison werkt op dit album samen met artiesten waar hij enorm veel respect voor heeft. Hij vroeg de muzikanten mee te werken om de nummers opnieuw vorm te geven. De opnames vonden plaats in 2014 in onder andere zijn geboortestad Belfast en in Londen. Het album is geproduceerd door Van Morrison met medewerking van Don Was (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones) en Bob Rock (The Cult, Metallica).
‘Van The Man’ Morrison (31 augustus, 1945) ontving in zijn loopbaan meerdere prestigieuze prijzen waaronder 6 Grammy Awards en een Brit Award. Ook werd hij opgenomen in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame en werd hij onderscheiden met een OBE (Order of the British Empire). In Nederland scoorde hij grote hits met onder andere ‘Have I Told You Lately’ en ‘Brown Eyed Girl’.
