Op het nieuwe album van John Mayer staat een cover van wijlen J.J. Cale. John Mayer speelde het nummer ‘Call Me The Breeze’ afgelopen weekend live tijdens een show in Irvine, Californiė en maakte tijdens het concert bekend dat de cover op zijn nieuwe album ‘Paradise Valley’ komt te staan. John Mayer over J.J. Cale: “I woke up to learn very sadly that the world of music and guitar playing lost an incredibly musician, writer, guitar player and singer. Mister J.J. Cale. I had the pleasure and honour working with him. It just so happens, not really a coincident ‘cause this song is so great, that this is actually a J.J. Cale song that is on the Paradise Valley record coming out. We thought it would be a fitting tribute to a fantastic guitar player, and a guy who really lived his life under the spotlight. So we send this out to the memory of J.J. Cale”.

J.J. Cale overleed vrijdag 26 juli aan een hartaanval. John Mayer werkte eerder samen met J.J. Cale en Eric Clapton aan het album ‘The Road to Escondido’, een tribute aan Billy Preston.
Op 16 augustus ligt het nieuwe album van John Mayer in de winkel. Op ‘Paradise Valley’ werkt hij weer samen met Don Was die samenwerkingen met Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt en B.B. King op zijn naam heeft staan. John Mayer scoorde enorme hits met de singles ‘Daughters’, ‘Gravity’, ‘Heartbreak Warfare’ en vele andere. Wereldwijd verkocht hij meer dan 20 miljoen albums en won 7 Grammy Awards. ‘Paradise Valley’ is de opvolger van ‘Born and Raised’ uit 2012. In oktober komt Mayer naar Nederland voor 3 shows.
