Ondanks al het gespeculeer over een mogelijke opvolger voor hun laatste album ‘The King of Limbs’ heeft Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien bevestigd dat hun meest recente album geen ‘part two’ zal krijgen. Op Record Store Day brengt de band speciaal voor die gelegenheid een aantal nummers uit. ‘The Butcher’ komt van de ‘The King Of Limbs sessions’. ‘Supercollider’ is opgenomen in dezelfde periode en is na de release van het album afgemaakt.
Ed vervolgt: “It’s just the way the album is sequenced best” and that “40, 41 minutes is the optimum time we feel for a record. There are [other] songs that we have started, that we never finished, but there’s not like seven or eight finished songs waiting in the wings to be released now, or in the autumn, or something. When we start a new record, we tend to start afresh. It’s kind of an evolutionary thing — only the fittest survive.” Het lijkt er dus op dat de fans geduld moeten hebben tot de band klaar is om een nieuw album uit te brengen.
