Op 14 december verschijnt het live album ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ van Bruce Springsteen. Een concertregistratie van de concertreeks die hij afgelopen jaar in het Walter Kerr Theatre op Broadway in New York gaf. Het album verschijnt op cd en op vinyl op 4 lp’s. Een dag later verschijnt een videoregistratie van het concert op Netflix. Als voorproefje is de akoestische versie van ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ al te beluisteren via iTunes en Spotify.
Bruce Springsteen begon de concertreeks in oktober vorig jaar. Waarbij hij enkel met akoestische gitaar op het podium staat en daarbij passages uit zijn in 2016 verschenen autobiografie ‘Born To Run’ de revue laat passeren. Tijdens de concertreeks kwam zijn vrouw Patti Scialfa regelmatig halverwege de show het podium op om samen met Springsteen de nummers ‘Tougher Than The Rest’ en ‘Brilliant Disguise’ te zingen als duet. Op de avonden dat Patti er niet was verving Springsteen die nummers door ‘Long Time Comin’. Dat nummer zal op de digitale editie van het live album als bonustrack worden toegevoegd. De concertreeks was zo snel uitverkocht dat het twee keer een aantal maanden werd verlengd. Op 15 december zal Springsteen het laatste concert uit deze concertreeks geven in het New Yorkse theater.
