Op 7 december komt de 40ste studioplaat van Van Morrison uit bij Caroline International: ‘The Prophet Speaks’. Het album is de opvolger van drie kort op elkaar volgende albums (‘Roll With The Punches’, ‘Versatile’ en ‘You’re Driving Me Crazy’), die elk dieper ingingen op muziekstijlen die belangrijk waren in het leven van Morrison: R&B en vocal jazz. ‘Roll With The Punches’, ‘Versatile’ en ‘You’re Driving Me Crazy’ kwamen in 2017 (2 maal) en begin 2018 uit. Op ‘The Prophet Speaks’ maakt hij zich opnieuw een aantal onbetwistbare klassiekers eigen, ditmaal oa van John Lee Hooker, Sam Cooke en Solomon Burke. Daarnaast bevat de plaat ook 6 nieuwe Van Morrison composities.
“It was important for me to get back to recording new music as well as doing some of the blues material that has inspired me from the beginning. Writing songs and making music is what I do, and working with great musicians makes it all the more enjoyable.”
Van Morrison werkte voor ‘The Prophet Speaks’, net zoals bij zijn laatste album ‘You’re Driving Me Crazy‘, opnieuw samen met Joey DeFrancesco en zijn band.
