Ruim 6 na het laatste Pretenders album, met een succesvolle carriere van 30 jaar en meer dan 25 miljoen verkochte platen in the pocket, brengt Chrissie Hynde in juni 2014 haar allereerste solo album ooit uit: “Stockholm”. Geschreven en geproduceerd met de Zweedse Bjorn Yttling (bekend van Peter, Bjorn en John) en opgenomen in de Ingrid Studios in Stockholm. Chrissie’s eerste soloalbum album komt begin juni 2014 uit, heeft 11 tracks en bevat cameos van Neil Young en John McEnroe. Het album laat zich het beste omschrijven als een power pop album, dat sterke pop hooks mixed met emotionele lyrics.
Chrissie Hynde: “I wanted to make a power pop album you could dance to – Abba meets John Lennon. I think life is serious and you should take it seriously, but in rock ‘n’ roll either have a laugh or don’t come to the party… so much of rock ‘n’ roll has become what I would call Glory Rock, with family values. It’s the irreverence in rock that was always the turn on.”
