In de film ‘Pick of Destiny’ was het nog een virtuele band: ‘The Kyle Gass Project,’ waarin acteurs en muzikanten Kyle Gass en Jack Black speelden. Het is volgens de mannen van Tenacious D dan ook puur toeval dat de band van Kyle de ‘Kyle Gass Band’ is gaan heten. Zoals ze op hun Facebookpagina zeggen: ‘I hope this is the furthest reaching comment we’ve ever made: Yes, we’re aware in the movie Pick of Destiny that there was a fictional band mentioned called “The Kyle Gass Project.” Yes, we are also aware that our band “Kyle Gass Band” is very close to that. No, there wont be a Kyle Gass Project. Frankly we liked the sound of Kyle Gass Band more, and we don’t live inside of a movie screen, so that being said, can we please put it to rest? Please? Pleeeeeease?’
De Kyle Gass band heeft net hun tweede album uitgebracht, met een aantal lekker in het gehoor liggende rocknummers. Die kan je hier beluisteren. Kyle Gass komt overigens samen met Jack Black weer als Tenacious D naar Nederland, en wel op 11 en 12 december. Helaas is het wel uitverkocht.
