Mick Hucknall, voormalig frontman van Simply Red was vandaag het slachtoffer van een online “hoax”, Hucknall zou tijdens een jetski-ongeluk om het leven gekomen zijn. Dit gerucht werd het geprek van de dag op twitter. Het originele bericht luidde: “Preliminary reports from Turks and Caicos Police officials indicate that the musician struck a concrete boat slip in a marina on Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
“Mick Hucknall was the only passenger on the personal watercraft at the time of the incident. Specific details are not yet available.” Hucknall bewees later springlevend te zijn toen hij een bericht achterliet op zijn twitterpagina. “its official..i’m dead..wow it’s lovely down here..nice and warm, gr8 parties..lots of rock n roll..” Eerder waren er al andere celebrities het slachtoffer van een dergelijke “hoax”, waaronder Jeff Goldblum, Adam Sandler en Will Smith’s zoon Jaden Smith. In 2007, ging Simply Red uit elkaar. Hun laatste album kwam nog datzelfde jaar uit.
