Op vrijdag 16 april brengt de internationaal geprezen singer-songwriter Graeme James zijn nieuwe ep A Sea of Infinite Possibilities uit. Het is de derde in een serie van vier seizoensgebonden ep’s. Eerder verkende Graeme op Old Storms in New Places al het emotionele landschap van de herfst en op The Weight of Many Winters deelde hij zijn ervaringen met de kille Noord-Europese winterdagen.
Graeme vertelt het volgende over zijn nieuwe ep, die in het teken zal staan van de lente: “Following on from ‘The Weight of Many Winters’, an intense EP exploring death and despair, my Spring EP is an exuberant celebration of life and all of its joys. As the days start to lengthen again and the snow melts, all of nature witnesses a sudden and profound restoration, erupting into color and life. Throughout human history, spring has been symbolically associated with new beginnings, and ‘A Sea Of Infinite Possibilities’ explores the notion of a world being reborn. Featuring themes of rebirth and renewal and even a song written to my daughter before she was born, it observes a world that is abounding in new and exciting possibilities, a world in which, as poet David Whyte states, ‘Everything is waiting for you.'”
De titelsong van de ep schreef Graeme toen hij in verwachting was van zijn inmiddels geboren dochter Eva. “It is the most personal song on the Spring EP and was recorded to the rhythm of actual heartbeat recordings taken at the 20th week of pregnancy. Marveling at the vast number of unknowns for life that has barely begun, the song asks the question: ‘Is this what it is like to dive into a sea of infinite possibilities?'” Ook de eerder uitgekomen singles The Fool en Babe I’m Coming Home staan op de ep. In februari verscheen het liefdesliedje The Fool, dat gaat over de liefde die je niet ziet aankomen.
