Gisteren kondigde Passenger zijn nieuw te verschijnen album ‘Whispers’ aan. Hij heeft dit gedaan door op Youtube de videoclip van de titeltrack “Whispers” te plaatsen. Het zesde studio-album van de in Brighton geboren singer-songwriter zal in juni 2014 verschijnen. Het album staat vol verhalen – fictieve en non-fictieve – over de liefde, de dood, opgroeien en oud worden.
Mike Rosenberg (de echte naam van Passenger) zegt zelf over het album: “This is easily the most ‘up’ album I’ve ever made, it’s quite cinematic. There are lots of big stories and big ideas. There are also some sombre moments about loneliness and death but, hey, it wouldn’t be a Passenger album without those. Mostly though, it’s a really positive album.”
Passenger is van plan om nog voor het festivalseizoen veel te “busken” – het spelen van zijn nummers op straat. “I can’t just rock up with an acoustic anymore – I’ve had to adapt. But busking is still my favourite thing to do. It’s such an honest form of playing music. It’s for everyone and it’s free. What could be better than that?”
