Met haar nieuwste single maakt Christina Aguilera een opvallende rentree: op ‘Pa Mis Muchachas’ zingt de zangeres in het Spaans. In het nummer mixt Xtina salsa, son cubano en guaracha en brengt ze naar eigen zeggen “a message of female empowerment – celebrating women’s bodies, boldness, courage and freedom of choice.” Aan Pa Mis Muchachas (For My Girls) werkten drie vrouwelijke, Latin rolmodellen mee: Nicki Nicole, Nathy Peluso Becky G.
Met de single gaat Christina terug naar haar Latijns-Amerikaanse roots en de herinneringen die ze heeft aan haar grootouders. Christina: “There’s nothing like Latin love, and it’s so reminiscent for me to be around the language being spoken. It’s very nostalgic for me. It reminds me of my childhood. It didn’t feel like it was business. It felt like it was just a labour of love.”
