Het is 40 jaar geleden dat The Jam voor het eerst begon met touren. De band had een fenomenale impact op de popmuziek en de jeugd. Gedurende hun korte carriére beïnvloedden ze een gehele generatie met hun muziek, hun stijl, politieke opvattingen en inspiratie. Universal/Polydor brengt een live box set uit met daarin een 6-tal cd’s vol met nog niet eerder uitgebrachte live opnames.
De box set, getiteld ‘Fire & Skill’, is een sublieme verzameling met concerten van ieder jaar dat The Jam bij hun platenlabel RAK zat, het label dat ook artiesten en bands als Herman’s Hermits, Suzi Quatro, Mud, Kenny, Hot Chocolate, Smokie, Arrows, Span, Racey en Kim Wilde onder haar hoede had. Alle opnames zijn geremastered in de beroemde Abbey Road, de box bevat buiten de 6 cd’s een 72 pagina’s tellend boekwerk met daarin een essay, foto’s gemaakt gedurende de periode dat de concerten zijn opgenomen, wat leuke memorabilia en een set van 5 postcards.
