De legendarische classic rock band Jethro Tull viert in 2018 hun 50 jarige jubileum. Bandleider, zanger en dwarsfluitspeler Ian Anderson brengt zijn band op 25 november exclusief naar het Koninklijk Theater Carré voor wat heet “JETHRO TULL 50th Anniversary Tour”. Smullen voor liefhebbers van deze rocktitanen want deze avond worden, ondersteund met video-visuals, de grootste successen van Jethro Tull gespeeld; pareltjes uit zowel vroege jaren als latere perioden van deze invloedrijke progressieve rockers. Het is ruim 9 jaar gelden dat Jethro Tull voor het laatst in Nederland optrad.
Opgericht in 1968 begon Jethro Tull met voornamelijk blues georiënteerde rockmuziek maar al snel stuwde de creatieve grenzeloosheid hen in progressieve richtingen. Het internationale succes volgde snel en midden jaren ‘70 kon Jethro Tull met recht één van de meest succesvolle live bands op het wereldtoneel worden genoemd, zij aan zij met Led Zeppelin, Elton John en The Rolling Stones.
Nu, ruim 40 albums en meer dan 60 miljoen verkochte exemplaren verder is Ian Anderson erin geslaagd de band op dát hoge niveau te behouden en zelfs door te blijven ontwikkelen in die onnavolgbare Tull-sound. Ian Anderson over deze 50th Anniversary Tour: “I am not usual a birthday or anniversary kind of guy but, just for once, I won’t be a party-pooper either! I treasure the memories of the earlier years of Jethro Tull repertoire, associated as it is with the adventures of visiting so many countries for the first time to connect with new fans around the world.
